The NYS Legislature voted May 3, 2021 to extend the eviction moratorium through August 31, 2021. Governor Cuomo has now signed this into law.
There was a small gap between the expiration of the previous moratorium on Saturday, May 1st and when this bill is signed into law. So there is a tiny chance that your landlord may have filed a petition against you in Housing Court in the interim. But you cannot be evicted without full legal process - including getting a lawyer. And that takes time. So don't panic or let your landlord intimidate you.
You'll be protected if you have already filed a Hardship Declaration or if you do that now.
